NIRBAAK – A Film by Aruneet Datta
From the very literal meaning of the given title of this silent, short film; we have tried to showcase the true meaning of values of certain things in some people’s lives. They are the most underprivileged ones with almost nothing in their hands. They remain silent in the society and no-one even cares for their upliftment.
On the other hand, there’s the other class of the society where we all fit the best for not valuing those certain things. Those things are meaningless and empty.
The difference between these two hierarchies of the society is a blatant truth, yet no one talks about it. Several campaigns are taken year after year by governments and NGOs for making their lives better; to change their lifestyle; but still there remains millions of such under-privileged souls. They are getting denied from the most basic ‘fundamental human rights’.
The plot of the short film is kept very simple, where we have tried to show that the leftovers of a half-eaten biscuit packet is of no value to the ‘man’ where as it has given immense pleasure in the heart of the deprived child after seeing that.
Statistic says, 14.5% of Indian population is undernourished. Further according to the report 37.9% children aged under 5 in India are stunted, while 20.8% suffer from ‘wasting’, meaning that their weight is too low for their height. And still, everyday we waste enormous amount of food.
