Director Statement

Nina is a look into how loss can corrupt the mind and how memories can attach themselves to physical places and items. We wanted to explore this using the medium of film to it's fullest, and so the corruption and unravelling of emotion is not just told, it is shown. The film itself is played with and disrupted. This was a really fun project for us and we think it will be visually and aurally unique for viewers.
One of the themes running throughout Nina is the idea of what is real and what is fake or imaginary. We tried to take this to several levels. You will see that digital and analogue fight with reality and memories. At the film's start this is subtly hinted at, and by the film's climax there is a cathartic and visceral meeting of two realities.
