Nikos Skalkottas, the 3rd "S"

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the death of the great violinist and composer Nikos Skalkottas, the Doc n Roll group, consisting of students and teachers of the Chalkis Music School "Nikos Skalkottas", presents the documentary "The Third S". Starting with the discovery of two supposedly lost works by the composer, which were revived at the Music Hall in February 2018 by great musicians, the band made a comeback in the past and presents the life and career of the composer, through the scientific look of musicologists and musicians, as well as the personal look of his son. From his teens, as a student at the Athens Conservatory, to his studies and creative work in Berlin, to the years of his return to Greece, the life and creation of Nikos Skalkottas shocked us with its rapid evolution.

Director Biography - Jason Tsoukalas, Margianna Kakatsou, Maria Papavasilopoulou, Stelios Kazakidis, Nikiforos Kourbetis

The Doc'n Roll group, comprised of students and teachers of the Chalkis Music School "Nikos Skalkotas", was set up in February 2017. The group participated in the refugee issue documentary production seminars, "Home new home" by the Institute of History , under the auspices of the Ministry of Education Research and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Telecommunications and Information Policy with supporters of the program Goethe Institute and Anna Lindh Foundation, an organization set up by the European Union in order to promote Euro-Arab relations and the protection of human rights.

The team, with the knowledge of the seminar, in collaboration with the instructor and director Costas Spyropoulos produced the documentary "Foreign Hugs". A documentary that deals with the communication of Greek students of the Music School and Refugees of the Ritsona Hospitality Center through music.

For the second year of the band, with minor changes in composition, we are launching a documentary on the life and work of world-renowned violist and composer Nikos Skalkotas.
