Zion Binet Murphy is a passionate writer, director and cultural worker whose love for art—particularly film—has shaped his life and career. He earned a B.A. in Media and Communications from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at Howard University, where he is set to graduate in Spring 2026. Rooted in the traditions of Third Cinema, Afro-Surrealism, and the Black Arts Movement, Zion's filmmaking practice is poetic and experimental, often weaving elements of magical realism to inspire introspection and social critique. With a deep interest in the intersection of art and activism, he leverages the camera as a transformative tool for social change.
