Rules & Terms

- No restrictions on your film’s premiere status or online screening status.
- Students will be required to prove a valid ID for films submitted to submitted under the student sections, in order to be considered for Student category awards.
- Shorts must be less than 30 minutes.
- Entries must be in English or subtitled in English.
- Multiple submissions and multiple category submissions are accepted.
- You can submit again your work for the following months.
- Your submission grants Northern Festival of Cinema permission to use trailers, teasers, film posters and stills for promotional purpose.
- There are no refunds for submission fees.
- All submissions must provide screener link via FilmFreeway.

    What an amazing festival! It’s run with passion and dedication, and a genuine care for the films that are shown. The festival was a lot of fun at a brilliant venue, and it was great to be able to meet so many talented filmmakers. It was also really good that there were live music performances, which added something a bit extra that most festivals don’t have. Aziz, who runs the festival, is warm, funny and passionate, and he made sure he took the time to speak to everyone on the night. A brilliant Festival experience all round, and one I hope to repeat in the future!
