Niece Day
Justin, a film professor, brings his niece Sammy to “take your kid to work day.” He anticipates a day full of fun for them both, but begins to worry as the day wears on. Is his job not as cool as he thought, or will his niece think he hung the moon (or in this case, turned on the sun)?

“People love what other people are passionate about.” - La La Land
One of my favorite ways people show love is by sharing what they care about with those they care about–whether it’s a favorite movie, song, or work of art. Showing trust in someone by sharing one’s interests with them is such a lovely expression of closeness that adds immense value to a relationship. It can also be scary to make yourself that vulnerable, to expose yourself to the potential hurt of what you love being rejected by someone meaningful to you.
“Niece Day” explores someone taking that very risk. Through the character of Justin and the relationship with his niece, Sammy, we see the lows of someone you love not sharing in what you’re passionate about. But we also see the elating joys of when they do, and how sometimes they may see your world even better and more fantastical than you see it yourself.
