Angie Pardave is a Peruvian filmmaker and communication graduate who focuses on stories that explore gender identity, social justice, and the resilience of marginalized communities in the Andes. Her most recent short film, Samin, portrays the life of a trans woman and her younger sister in a rural highland town, addressing transphobia and the dream of self-expression through traditional dance. She has worked with non-professional actors, directed military personnel in intense scenes, and filmed in remote areas at over 3000 meters above sea level. Her work is informed by her previous research on the representation of trans characters in Peruvian media, and her commitment to defending LGBTQ+ rights and promoting social inclusion.
