Born in 1999, Swiss-Greek independent filmmaker Nicolas Stevanovski had discovered his love for filmmaking when he started recording home videos while on family vacation. Later, his middle-school art teachers would support and motivate him to start writing and directing his own narrative short films starring his fellow classmates.
While pursuing a career in architecture, Nicolas went on to continue experimenting, finding a way to merge his passion for both cinema and design. He would go on to work as a production designer for smaller independent film productions and as an assistant production manager to an internationally acclaimed documentary. His short films "Die Herberge" and "Two Hundred And Thirteen Steps" were produced during this time.
Fascinated by interactions and conflicts that arise from the clash of fundamentally different characters and inspired by the work of his close relatives, Nicolas went on to write, direct and co-produce "Daily Bread" - a twisted, gloomy tale set in a bakery about a bizarre truce between law enforcement and figures of the underworld.
"Daily Bread" is his latest work and premiered to a Swiss audience on May 23rd 2024 at Cinéma Odeon in Brugg, Switzerland. Distribution to international film festivals and video-on-demand platforms are currently in progress.
