Nick Jordan is an artist-filmmaker whose work centres upon the interconnections between natural, cultural and social ecologies.
Exploring the interdependent spaces that exist between the human and more-than-human, Jordan’s hybrid documentaries are filmed and edited by the artist with an unplanned or intuitive response to material, people and environments. The films often combine original footage with archival elements and soundscapes, to create oblique, layered narratives.
With an interest in shared agency, mutual exchange and research, Jordan's work often features collaborative input from practitioners working in life sciences, such as ecology, botany and genetics, as well as from the fields of anthropology, history and healthcare.
Nick Jordan's films have been shown widely at international festivals and exhibitions, including CPH:DOX (Denmark); Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France); Innsbruck International Biennale (Austria); BFI London Film Festival (UK); Videonale, Bonn (Germany); Whitstable Biennale (UK); Edinburgh International Film Festival (UK); São Paulo International Short Film Festival (Brazil); Kassel Dokfest (Germany); Documenta, Madrid (Spain).
His films have been the subject of special focus programmes at the London Short Film Festival (UK), Minimalen (Trondheim, Norway) and HOME Artist Film Weekender (Manchester, UK).
Nick Jordan studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University (BA) and Manchester Metropolitan University (MA). He is the curator of Braziers International Film Festival (UK).
