"Single Non-Resident Families" refers to a unique family structure born under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework in China, where the systems, economic levels, and cultures of Hong Kong and Shenzhen differ. In these families, only one parent and the children hold Hong Kong residency, while the other parent works or lives in Hong Kong. Within this family environment, there are many cross-border students who commute daily between Shenzhen and Hong Kong for schooling. "Next Stop, Lok Ma Chau" delves into the significance behind this family structure, using a young girl from a single non-resident family as the starting point to explore the challenges of "identity recognition" brought about by her growth environment. It serves as an in-depth exploration of the issues of "identity recognition" faced by cross-border students, marginalized families, and under the backdrop of "One Country, Two Systems".
