The Newport Beach Film Festival is now exclusively accepting UK and Ireland film submissions. To submit a film from the United Kingdom, apply the waiver code UKNBFF18. To submit a film from the Republic of Ireland, apply the waiver code IreNBFF18. All UK and Ireland film submissions must be submitted via FilmFreeway by the UK and Ireland Deadline (February 23rd, 2018). Qualifying film entries must have a completion date of Jan. 1, 2017 or later. Film entries must not be available via internet or broadcast nationally via cable or satellite television in the U.S. prior to the Festival screening in order to be eligible.

Submissions Information

Submissions guidelines may be found at www.newportbeachfilmfest.com. Our deadlines are postmark deadlines; no late submissions will be accepted. We will email you directly upon receiving your submission, if you have not been emailed your submission was not received.

Entrants are responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses, royalties, release forms, clearances, and permits necessary to present their work. The Newport Beach Film Festival is not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work. Every precaution will be taken to safeguard all materials sent to the festival; however NBFF is not responsible for damage to submitted materials incurred by shipping to or from the festival.

Submitted films must be available for exhibition as:
Digital Cinema Package (DCP) – (Does not apply to Music Video and Youth categories)

Films submitted must be available in English or in the original language with English subtitles. Accepted films must be available in the designated exhibition formats.

Films must not screen in the U.S. in theaters, air on U.S. television, or be available to U.S. consumers in stores or via the internet before May 3, 2018.

The number(s), date(s), time(s), and locations of the screenings of films are subject to the discretion of the Newport Beach Film Festival.

The exhibition copy supplier will be responsible for the cost of the shipment to the Newport Beach Film Festival. The Newport Beach Film Festival will return the print postage prepaid to the supplier or to the next destination as indicated by the supplier (Features only). Entry materials and/or Short films will not be returned with the exception of hard drives and flash drives with a prepaid postage and self-addressed envelope.

The Newport Beach Film Festival takes the utmost care in the handling of your entry. The Newport Beach Film Festival does not pay additional charges for originals, masters, or special prints.

Films submitted must be available in English or in the original language with English subtitles. Accepted films must be available in the designated exhibition formats.

SCREENER RULES
Our deadlines are postmark deadlines. Films must be submitted by the deadline and arrive no later than a week after the deadline if mailed.

After completing our submissions form, please visit our website at www.newportbeachfilmfest.com for the digital file specifications before you submit your file. You can submit your screener with one of the options below.

(1) Digital video file sent to submissions@newportbeachfilmfest.com
(2) Upload to secure FTP NBFF site. Visit www.newportbeachfilmfest.com click on “Submit Your Film,” then click on the button for Upload Instructions which will allow you to transfer your movie file to our secure site.
(3) Send film using Hosted Site (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) to submissions@newportbeachfilmfest.com – must be able to download version, be sure to activate this option.
(4) Send film using commercial Upload Site (Dropbox (do not use shared files), YouSendIt, We Transfer, etc.) to submissions@newportbeachfilmfest.com
(5) Mail a Data Device (Disk, Hard Drive, Flash Drive). * Will not be returned unless you provide prepaid postage and packing materials for your device. Tip: you can use a secure digital chip and tape it to an index card and mail in a standard envelope.
- If sending as DVD video, the following is required with each entry. One (1) preview copy, Standard Definition. We cannot accept Blu-ray Video disks for review. Please check your DVD before submitting.

    We had a great experience screening "G[r]o[w]ing Up" at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The screening room at the Triangle Cinemas in Newport Beach was fantastic. Also, the other films in our block were high quality. I live in LA so I didn't arrange any housing through them and I only interacted with them via email and for my screening, so I can't speak to what the experience is like to be a visiting filmmaker. Networking options have been pretty good at this festival.

    Newport Beach Film Festival was an incredible Festival to attend. By far the best festival in regards to communication and organization. It was incredible how amazing they run things. You are put in contact with your screening programmer and they help with any questions and promotions leading up to the festival. Tod Brewster was one of our programmers, and even though it was his first year doing so, he was amazing and a huge help. Not just for our screening, but with everything from helping get in contact with the right people and even helping distribute our postcards! NBFF even has an amazing educational program they run alongside the festival. Catherine Dickinson, helped us to take our film, Time Well Spent, to different schools in the county to hold Q and A's and special screenings. Thank you Tod and Catherine and thank you Newport Beach Film Fest. It was an honor to show our Doc at your festival and an honor to win the Audience Choice Award for Action Sports. Cheers!
