Presented by the Atlanta Film Society, New Mavericks is a year-round program that aids women in the Atlanta film community by elevating the female lens and strong female narratives. Expanded from the Atlanta Film Festival’s acclaimed female-directed shorts block, New Mavericks hosts monthly meet-ups and provides networking opportunities, educational programs, opportunities for professional development, and more.

In 2015, the Atlanta Film Society and Synchronicity Theatre presented the first New Mavericks Film Series, a two-day event featuring feature film screenings, shorts blocks, workshops, and networking events.

In 2016, the Atlanta Film Society will present the first New Mavericks Film Festival.
