New Florida Cinema, is a series of Florida-created short film screenings scheduled bimonthly throughout 2021. The scheduled dates and times for our 2021 screenings are the following:

June 26th, 2021 - 7pm
August 28th, 2021 - 7pm
October 30th, 2021 - 7pm
December 18th, 2021 - 7pm

Our screenings consist of 5 to 10 selected short films/videos followed by brief Q&As with filmmakers in attendance or via pre-recorded Q&As. Preceding the short films is a trailer block of Florida-related films and a community made "99 Second Short Film" made bi-monthly by the New Florida Cinema community.

Our atmosphere is casual, festival-style and we encourage filmmakers and audience members to mingle and connect over their art and future film projects. An important part of our screenings is filmmaker Q&As which take place after each short screened. If submitting your film to our screenings, we request that a representative from the film hold a brief 5 to 10 minute Q&A either live if attending in person or pre-recorded via zoom. Part of our mission is to educate filmmakers as well as audiences and these Q&As offer terrific insight into the complex artistry of filmmaking. We’re here to help Florida films get made by filmmakers at all levels. As an organization, our purpose is to provide the filmmaking community with resources to create, distribute, and exhibit their films so that filmmakers and the viewing public can achieve cultural enrichment and educational advancement through film.

Our October 30th, 2021 screening will be considered a Halloween event and focus on exhibiting horror/thriller/scary submissions.

Please note that feature film submissions will not be considered for the short film screening dates noted above. If your feature film is selected, a representative from New Florida Cinema will reach out to organize an independent exhibition/Q&A screening of your film. Please email mail@newfloridacinema.org if you have any questions in this regard.

New Florida Cinema, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization whose mission is to support the film community throughout Florida. Since February 2017, New Florida Cinema has organized screenings of Florida-made short films on the big screen in theaters. Our regular screenings have allowed filmmakers to share their work to live audiences in the best environment to view a film; the movie theater. Visit https://newfloridacinema.org/screenings to see information on past screenings or https://newfloridacinema.org for general information.

Films selected for our 2021 screenings will be considered "Official Selections" of New Florida Cinema and be eligible for award recognition at our December 18th, 2021 event. Last year, our organization presented awards for 5 categories, including "Best Drama", "Best Horror", "Best Comedy", "Best Animated Film" and "Best Experimental Film". This year, we will be awarding at least 5 categories, to be determined by submission genres. Gift bags, Laurels, and a 1-year membership to New Florida Cinema will be provided to films selected for inclusion in our screenings.

By submitting to New Florida Cinema, Inc. (a 501c3 non-profit organization), you agree that you have the rights and permission to screen the submitted film/video work at a future New Florida Cinema event. You also permit images and/or brief clips (up to 90 seconds) from the work or its related materials (posters, trailers, bts) to be used in promotional materials for the screening and/or New Florida Cinema organization in general(including but not limited to event programs, social media, New Florida Cinema website, media appearances, event trailers/promos, etc.)

If your film is selected for a screening, you agree to have your film represented via Q&A either in person in the theater or pre-recorded via zoom.

Your submission will be considered for all screenings after your submission date and will not necessarily be selected for the next screening. If you have a preference on screening date due to travel or other restrictions, please provide that information when submitting your film.

When submitting your film, please provide information on how your film or it's filmmakers are related to Florida. New Florida Cinema encourages film submissions from throughout Florida as well as made elsewhere with the involvement of Floridian artists. New Florida Cinema may also schedule films not-related to Florida if their inclusion is considered by the New Florida Cinema board to be of significant benefit of our audience and attending filmmakers.

We have a limited amount of theater time when screening films at our events. For films that are not included our scheduled 2021 screenings, New Florida Cinema may contact submitting filmmakers about scheduling for inclusion in other screening dates. Additional submission fees will not be required in these cases.

Selections from New Florida Cinema's December 19th, 2020 and February 27th, 2021 short film screenings are also considered "Official Selections" of New Florida Cinema 2021 and eligible for all applicable Best of 2021 Awards.
