Native Spirit Festival is the UK's first and only annual Independent festival to promote international Native Filmmakers, Media and Artists, celebrating Indigenous Languages and Narrative Sovereignty. The festival is part of Native Spirit Foundation, founded in 2005 by Mapuche leader Freddy Trequil to promote knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures and longer term projects supporting Community-run education in Native Schools. Freddy states "All the [activists] have come to the conclusion that one objective of making video, radio and television is for the other culture to know us. It is necessary to create a bridge to share our culture in an educational form, without losing our identity."

  • What an honor to have been selected at the Native Spirit Film Festival UK. It gives me much pleasure and pride that our Panay Bukidnon Indigenous Peoples have been represented in your festival and their story seen by audiences over there.

The Native Spirit Film Festival have been nothing but warm, welcoming and supportive of the films they select. We might have missed attending physically but we feel so at home through the posts and correspondences. The selections have been very interesting and how we wish we can one day join in the in-person festivities.

Thank you to the Native Spirit Film Festival Director & Team! Padayon!
