Nathan Xia's deep fascination with people leads him to create stories dominated by character, complex and unique cinematic individuals who are, at times, outright provocative. Beyond the general themes of mental health, coming-of-age, and the Asian-American experience, Nathan explores the nuances of each through a vibrant, comedic, absurd, and wholly one-of-a-kind personal lens. Hailing from San Diego, California, Nathan remains a multi-hyphenate who spreads his time between writing, directing, acting, music, and more.
Speaking on past work, his short film ‘Goodnight America’ (2021) - starring Xolo Maridueña and Jacob Bertrand - was an internet sensation, garnishing nearly one million views worldwide. His next film ‘Oh, Mighty Ocean!’ (2022) - starring Jack Griffo, Peyton List, and Jacob Bertrand - screened at film festivals throughout the US and was later acquired by the prestigious short film channel, Omeleto. His debut micro-budget feature ‘Chasing Sundance’ (2023) which he wrote, directed, and starred in, was acquired for domestic distribution by Freestyle Digital Media and can be found on online streaming platforms.
Each day, every minute, Xia’s relentless passion for cinema grows, an eagerness unmatched to continue sharing his stories, his passion, and his point-of-view with the world.
