Writer/Director Nikyatu Jusu's films have enjoyed prolific film festival runs. Her short film Suicide By Sunlight: a project funded by THROUGH HER LENS and sponsored by the Tribeca Film Institute and Chanel, made its debut at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
Currently she is in post production on a supernatural thriller, NANNY, centering a Senegalese immigrant Nanny in NYC haunted by otherworldly forces that threaten to dismantle the American dream she has painstakingly assembled. Topic Studios, Stay Gold Pictures and LinLay Productions teamed up to finance and produce Nanny, which is Nikyatu's feature debut.
NANNY was selected for the 2019 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Lab, the 2019 IFP Project Forum and the 2020 Sundance Screenwriter's and Director’s Labs. Additionally, NANNY was one of 35 projects selected for the 2020 Creative Capital Awards and most recently was shortlisted for The Black List 2020, rankings of the year’s hot unproduced (or on the verge of being produced) screenplays.
In addition to making films, Nikyatu teaches filmmaking as a tenure track Assistant Professor at George Mason University. She is repped at M88 and CAA.
