《Nakaw Kaliling》
The ancestor worshiping rituals of the Fata'an Community had been canceled for decades; it was only preserved in documents and memories of elders before 2018. In 2019, an Ancestor’s Spirit theophanized on a young female member of the community, asking the descendants of Fata'an to move them away from the sacred mountain of Fata’an. They foretold that a huge plague was coming, and only their return might protect the village.
In the ritual, ancient ancestors appointed the location of their shrine by signs of bamboo divination. Nakaw Kaliling, a female of the Pangcah community, has since born the destiny to rebuild the Ancient Shrine all of sudden…
The protagonist, Nakaw Kaliling, has had the traits of easily fainting and getting fever; many childhood memories involve resting in the bed. Nakaw’s mother told her “you are the child of the Ancestors’ Spirit.” Despite the spirits haunted during her sleep, Nakaw still learned to reconcile with the nature and Realm of Spirits. Nakaw is never afraid of seeing and hearing spirits. She has been learning to get along with the Spiritual Realm all along.
However, Nakaw never imagined that she would have to bear such a critical duty of the Fata'an Community. Since the end of 2019, Nakaw has been struggling between business of her own restaurant, relationship building of returned Ancient Spirits, opposition from elders with Christianity religion, and doubts from youths on location of the Ancient Shrine beside her restaurant. How would Nakaw stick onto this path?
