Nadir The Cyclist - 2023
In this short film, we follow the inspiring journey of Nadir, a dedicated cyclist who refuses to let a broken leg dampen his passion. From childhood, cycling has been Nadir's greatest joy, but a devastating accident in adulthood cost him one of his legs. However, rather than letting this setback define him, Nadir defies the odds and continues pursuing his love for cycling.
Despite his physical and emotional challenges, Nadir's determination remains unwavering. Through his journey of recovery, he undergoes a profound transformation in his perspective on life. He realizes that while he may never regain his lost limb, he can choose how to respond to adversity. Instead of dwelling on the past or succumbing to despair, Nadir embraces a philosophy of resilience and gratitude.
As Nadir takes to the roads once more, his dedication to cycling symbolizes his indomitable spirit. Each pedal stroke is a testament to his refusal to be defined by his limitations. Through his example, Nadir challenges us to reconsider our approach to life's challenges. Are we letting setbacks hold us back, or are we embracing the things we love with unwavering determination?
Overall, Nadir's story is a powerful reminder that true strength lies not in what we've lost, but in how we choose to move forward. It's a story of resilience, perseverance, and the transformative power of pursuing our passions against all odds.

Hey there, I'm Zain Shahid, originally from Lahore, Pakistan. I have always been drawn to art, music, and math since I was young. When I was 14, I discovered my passion for photography, and it's been a big part of my life ever since.
In 2022, I moved to Dubai, seeking new opportunities and experiences. It was a big change, but it opened up doors for me to explore my creative side even more. In 2023, I embarked on a personal project called "Nadir The Cyclist", where I took on the challenge of creating a film all by myself.
I've learned a lot along the way, from my early days experimenting with photography to now diving into filmmaking. Through it all, I've come to realize the importance of adapting to change and staying true to my passions. As I continue to grow and evolve in this dynamic city, I'm excited to see where my journey takes me next.
"Nadir The Cyclist was a big challenge for me. I heard about a guy who cycled with a broken leg, and I was excited to film him. One day, I found Nadir cycling in a park. I talked to him right away and grabbed my camera. I took him to the nearest bridge, the only cinematic spot I could think of.
I shot everything handheld, focusing on capturing the moment with my cinematography skills. When I got home and looked at the footage, I was surprised that every shot was usable. I usually trust myself to shoot only what I need.
I started editing the next night. It took me two hours to put the film together. I showed it to my director friends, and they loved it. One of them said it could be selected for something, so I found FilmFreeway and started submitting it.
Now, it's been selected for six festivals, which is a huge achievement for me. At first, I wasn't even sure I could make the film."
