Through making Dreamland, I learned how to work as a collective. I watched how Tuumben K’ooben functions first-hand while visiting Felipe Carrillo Puerto in March of 2023. It was awe-inspiring to see a group of people with such different skill sets working together toward the common goal of nature preservation. I tried my best to follow their lead when working with my crew: producer and editor Abbey Bucher, director of photography Kaitlyn Griffin, and sound recordist Giovanni DiVentura. Although we each managed different pieces of the puzzle, we knew what we wanted the end picture to look like and worked together to assemble it. We hope that anyone who watches this film will appreciate not only Tuumben K’ooben’s mission, but also their deep and sustainable commitment to using collective action to make it happen.
