When numbers increase dramatically, people experience cognitive overload and empathy fatigue. The brain struggles to connect with or process suffering on such a scale, leading to a diminished emotional response. This is why individuals can often empathize with a single, identifiable victim but feel indifferent to large-scale disasters, such as genocide.

Hamid Hosseini (born March 21, 1990) is an Iranian filmmaker based in Paris. A graduate of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS) and trained in screenplay writing through a course at Michigan State University, Hosseini has directed several short films and documentaries. Hosseini's films focus on themes of humanity and profound challenges.
