Director Statement

Nozi depicts a common story that forms part of our reality in modern family living. For me this was another opportunity to echo a story of a young girl going through rough times with a broken father escaping his reality and not being aware
of the outcomes. Like all family relationships , they start healthy and positive until something tragic and unexpected
happens. The story reveals pure human weaknesses when going through tough times and how by hiding
our hurtness and ignoring simple things that keep us together can make us miss out on the opportunity of gaining greater strength through lifting each other. The greatest part of making this film was the journey of exploring true emotions and being afforded an opportunity to work with a small cast that not only wanted to be in the film but found themselves relating with the story and which brought out their inner reality on set. Our mutual struggle
of unforgivess and missed opportunities of having someone we can break down on and cry our heart out. The one first step to true forgiveness is letting go of something that caused pain or hurtness. The most important part of the
story is to show how each and everyone of us needs someone to talk to. Like Nozi in her hurtness, she needed someone to talk to and she found Neo. Her presence inspired healing, while on the other hand C’ya didn’t have anyone to
talk to and genuinely listen to his struggles and help him along the way until later when the same previously
broken Nozi was there to tell him something different. We all need words that inspires a chance to beat what depresses us and help us find a way to forgive in exchange of inner peace.
