Director Statement

Nou Se Fòs is not just a film it’s a movement. In Creole, Nou Se Fòs means “We are Strength.” The phrase is inspired by the phrase “l'union fait la force” meaning “strength through unity” and according to the Haitian constitution it stands for "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity." Nou Se Fòs is dedicated to Ayiti, and the African Diaspora. This project is the paradigm our people need to highlight and emphasize the beauty within our culture. Our stories have been told through the lens of authors unable to sympathize and understand our truths. As Ayitian natives and filmmakers, it is our responsibility to cultivate this story, and impel it to be prevalent amongst African and Haitian viewers who have shared in our displeasures watching inaccurate depictions of our people by many Western media outlets. The superheroes in the film, first and foremost, are Haitian which means that the beauty, the might, and the strength of Haiti will be a prevailing theme. This tale of love, struggle, overcoming, spirituality, and sacrifice is the imagery and light our people need to find the strength within.
