In 2015, presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that “when Mexico sends its people,
they’re not sending their best… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”
Although data from The Center for Immigration Studies shows that there is no evidence that
immigrants commit more crimes than native-born Americans, in 2019 the US held a record
number of Immigrant children in custody separated from their parents, with reports of immigrant
children being held in cages.
In November of 2019, thousands of Central American migrants, part of caravans bound for the
US, reached Tijuana, Mexico, where authorities used tear gas when some migrants tried to
cross the border. President Trump called these migrants “invaders.”
In 2019, thousands of protesters, demanding the ousting of the puppet colonial Governor of
Puerto Rico, requested that supporters and allies send them gasmasks, as the colonial
government’s policia shot tear gas canisters at the peaceful protestors.
The psychiatrist and political philosopher, Frantz Fanon said that “we revolt simply because, for
many reasons, we can no longer breathe. ”
In 2014, a Black man named Eric Garner, was choked to death by NYC cops for selling
“loosies” (loose cigarettes) illegally. His last words were “I can’t breathe.” He repeated those
words eleven times before the life was choked out of him.
