NORBIS PICTUS
Norbis Pictus is a poetic art film by Slovak director and visual artist Norbert Tappert. It offers a Kafkaesque, absurd, and grotesque world composed of collages of everyday situations and recurring symbols of unique pop decadence (a gas mask, a book, a candle, nudity). The film is a melancholic dance of passing time at the intersection of wakefulness, dreams, and the perception of deeper reality.
It tells the intimate stories of a man and a woman (Adam and Eve), filled with provocative contrasts, emotional moments, and a magical atmosphere referencing Christian and mystical parables and rituals. This expressive "world in images" presents a velvety kaleidoscope of strange beauty, joy, life, and decay—a visual essay without a single word.
