NIGHT SHIFT (stage play extract) CRACKED (screen extract)

NIGHT SHIFT
The night – a time most consider is for sleeping, but for over 8 million people somewhere between 6pm – 6 am is the time their work shift begins. Delivery Driver Jaye is stressed but determined to get her deliveries out on time and get back to her daughter. Around her Croydon’s late night workers spring to life and intersect. Just tonight, the rain keeps coming down and with it all kinds of past neglect starts to surface, threatening to change things for everyone. Night Shift is a playful, occasionally dark and surreal snapshot of life between 6 pm and 4 am. As the consequences of inaction and complacency mount, the value of attention, care and kindness in work and relationships shine through.

CRACKED
Screw ups, wasters, fuck-ups, losers - Who are the vulnerable young people who fall through the cracks and end up on the streets? How little does it take to get there?

Zoe & Justin disappear after an incident in school. Zoe was the last person seen in the hallway with the victim but CCTV failed to catch the fatal moment. A formerly quiet student with learning difficulties, why would Zoe attack a well loved teacher? What was she doing in school? And why has her former parkour mate Justin disappeared too? As Justin’s diligent brother Joseph and best mate Emiri search for them, Zoe and Justin move further from home and into a world some are desperately trying to keep from being exposed. Can they ever outrun their past and find a better way for the future? CRACKED looks at the stories of vulnerable young people, how little it takes to end up on the street and what happens to some when they get there.
