NECROzen

English: NECROzen is a short paleorealist movie based on abstract landscapes, telluric sounds and aesthetic of disasters.
As the Mediterranean sea became the post-modern archetype of human misery, the sequence of moving drawings - made from the mix of acrylic colours and oils - runs over the soundscape of a sea storm, with musical inserts playing a random emotional counterpoint.
Far from the forecasts, NECROzen is a deep meditation over any form of extinction.

Director Biography - Mario Calderaro & Manuel Diemoz

Mario Calderaro (Palermo, 1980).
After a long academic education he decided to continue to work independently on the concept developed first during the BA thesis in Ethnomusicology and then during the PhD research in Anthropology of Sound: the image-sound ("immagine-suono"), a development in acoustic terms of Deleuze's 'image-time' and Lacan's unconscious system. Actually he lives practicing shiatsu, making films and working as a free-lance sound-designer for theatre, cinema and art-installations.
Since autumn 2017 he develops audiovisual contents for the Sicilian Shiatsu Academy. And, since autumn 2019, he's working on the idea of eco-cultural centre called Folk Factory.

Manuel Diemoz (Aosta,1982). When he was 20 he started his relationship with art, painting and playing music, as well as writing, thirsty for experimental expression. Meanwhile he graduated in Psychiatric Rehabilitation at the Pavia University of Studies, where he worked for several years, fascinated by the mysteries of the human mind.
He realized various exhibitions in Italy, France and Germany, always paying attention to the Unconscious theme, to the unknown and to the emotional tension. Between these: “Le Theatre des Halos”, “Es Posizione”, “Arkh”, “4”, “Archaic Structures of Living”, “Beneath the Remains”.

Folk Cinema officially born in 2007. It regards audiovisual compositions developed around common authorial instances in accordance to image-sound’s theory (Calderaro, University of Turin, 2006 & 2013), and it is an attempt to reach unconscious processes editing a cinematic collective experience on sound’s narrative structures: so that Folk Cinema is somehow a method.
