"NASZA" OUR RED PLANET

„NASZA Our Red Planet” is a six-episode* adventure series for children aged 7 and over. It presents the history of the Polish space mission, led by children-scientists from the NASZA (Scientific Agency for Super Zealed Astronautics). With the help of intelligent plants also working at this institute, they created the „Earth Nut 01” spacecraft.
The target of the expedition is the planet Mars - establishing contact with the creatures living there and establishing a non-invasive Polish colony. For this purpose, two adult astronauts were selected. They were chosen because of their method of communication with other civilizations. They created a device: a sinusophone, which allows to draw sounds of the supposed martian language of sound-shapes. They will be accompanied by the ship's constructor, Professor Brokumił - intelligent Broccoli with a language limited to monosyllables.

* It was originally created as a 6-episodes series but we created also 1h 20min movie out of it.

Director Biography - Michał Karol Lipka, Patryk Zakrocki

Michał Lipka
is the son of the science fiction writer Jerzy Lipka.
He is graphic designer and animator known from the mini-series "Sparkolacje" broadcast in 2000 in the Polish National TVP1 programme "MdM" by Man and Matern. He is an author of music videos, incl. for the band Kury and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet. He is also known from the polish club scene as DJ Cpt. Sparky, a member of the Soul Service collective. He films, makes special effects, 2D and 3D animations, edits and directs. He is also a club VJ.

Patryk Zakrocki
is a composer fascinated with cinema and has long been involved in creating music for feature films, documentaries and animated films, dramatic, puppet and dance theater. From 2020, he started making short film forms on his own.
He is the originator of the project, he writes screenplays, directs and takes pictures, creates sound and music.

Director Statement

„NASZA Our Red Planet" TV series was orignally created as a result of cooperation with the Children's Art Center in Poznań. In a limited time of 3 months, we decided to create a production that would use the resources at our disposal as much as possible. We wanted to create a film series with fast-paced action and interesting, colorful images that would catch the attention of a young viewer. However, unlike many contemporary productions for children, we decided to create a cinema based on positive emotions. The action of our series is gentle, the characters are not infallible. Their cooperation and friendship allow them to overcome adversities. An important element of our series is a sense of humor, the theme of music and sound, as well as many layers of content that overlap and create an interesting world.
We decided on the form of the TV series, referring to the narratively simple animated series, the clear border between good and evil, pure intention and an interesting approach to the world. We shot the acting materials on the bluebox, opting for an effective 3D scenery. Due to restrictions and COVID pandemy, we played and recorded actors separately, taking into account the character of the 3D animated character. There are five child actors in the series, three of them already had some film experience, two of them made their debut on a movie set.
We managed to get through all the stages of production in our multi-tasking team of four people, which with the limited budget and time od three monts is an achievement in itself.
