The short film story was made as an experiment to use usual horror tropes you see in movies and other short films and try to implement them in a more simple and creative way that will engage and immerse the audience in the world of the main character and make them feel what he is going through. The idea came when one day I was in the kitchen late at night filling water in a bottle. I noticed a pair of slippers at one corner of the kitchen. The first thought that came to my mind was there was potential for this to be a great story idea. I worked on it along with my writer friend Dipankar Sonar and tried to make a small and simple story using the slippers as gimmick to make it unique and interesting. Once the short film was shot, we realised there wasn’t much to show and it looked pretty generic. A lot of creative decisions were made later in the edit to create an environment which would make the life of the main character natural and interesting enough for the audience to care about him. Some dynamic between these two roommates without the physical presence of one and impact of the last conversation of the main character with his mother was added to create more depth in the story and feel more intruiging. Along the way, sound turned out the most challenging aspect of this project where the story will shine to its highest potential if we did it right. Finding the right balance between subtlety and going as far as a loud jumpscare, we managed to find a common ground where it made the short film an absolutely intense experience. This short film project was initially started to create that same experience for the people who watch it and we believe we achieved that.
