Director Statement

For years, I have been looking for ways to tell stories that combine the everyday with the extraordinary. La Bruja de Mi Ex was born as a concept for a video game, then transformed into a novel and today comes to life as a short film. This evolution has not been a coincidence, but a need to explore new ways of narrating a story that, at its core, is deeply human.

In this project, I wanted to approach the complexity of relationships from a different angle. Although there are elements of magical realism, suspense and comedy, at its core, this is a story about what happens when communication in a couple fails. I wanted to capture how insecurities and unresolved conflicts can become forces that alter the perception of reality, almost as if they were spells that cloud reason.

Visually, I was inspired by dynamic narratives like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, where the pacing and cinematic language reinforce the emotional impact of the story. I wanted the viewer to feel the same intensity as the characters, immersing them in a world that plays with the boundaries between the real and the fantastic.

This short film is just the first step. My vision is to expand La Bruja de Mi Ex into a miniseries or even a narrative video game, where we can delve deeper into the evolution of the characters and the conflicts they face. I firmly believe that this story has the potential to connect with a wide audience, because we have all, at some point, felt that love can be both a spell and a curse.

This project not only represents my growth as a director, but also my commitment to telling stories that defy convention. I hope that this is the beginning of a longer road and that, with the right support, we can take this story to its full potential.
