Ringo Le is a writer, director, and producer. His latest comedy film “Big Gay Love” starred Nicholas Brendon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”). The film won the audience award at the Palm Springs LGBT Film Festival and played at over 50 film festivals. He is a fellow of Film Independent’s mentorship program where he was mentored by director Bill Condon on the set of “Dreamgirls.” He has also worked in TV at the CBS Director's Program under DGA President Paris Barclay for shows “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (Universal Studios) and “Cold Case” (Warner Bros Studios).
“My Vietnam” is an American idiom meaning a difficult situation that one experiences that is as traumatic and harrowing as fighting in a long and brutal war.
“My Vietnam” is the story of a family who must find a way to transform themselves when the mother, Tammy (played by legendary Vietnamese actress Thanh Lan), has a séance to bring the father (Long Nguyen) back from the dead. What they did not expect to come back are the ghosts of the Vietnam War. With an ensemble cast including Tamlyn Tomita ("The Joy Luck Club"), Ken Takemoto ("Falcon and the Winter Soldier"), and Ringo Le ("Saigon Love Story") life in Southern California’s Little Saigon can seem idyllic but underneath the charm lies generational conflicts like tradition, disillusionment, and the desire to break free from the past to finding one’s freedom.
In any given year it is nearly impossible to get an Asian American independent film production off the ground. What is even harder is to make a feature film during COVID. But we have overcome such obstacles to bring you a film experience like no other. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
