My Treehouse
LOGLINE: The story of my treehouse, which was never really just mine.
ARTIST STATEMENT: As I documentary artist, I find myself constantly feuled by nostalgia and drawn back to themes of transience. In this film, I attempt to reanimate the anger and sadness I felt after my mom gave away my childhood treehouse without telling me. I felt my memories were ripped away without my chance to say goodbye. But, the treehouse was so much bigger than just me, and I never truly understood how it touched the lives of others- especially my dad. Using reenactments filmed by my mom and dad coupled with found footage and animation, I attempt to say that memories will always be there, even when the treehouse has long rotted away into the ground, which is what it would've done in my backyard while I'm away at college. And so, another kid should play on it before it does.
