My Tapalili

"Tapalili" is a cultural narrative that celebrates the life of Biu, a heroic figure from Tapalali Hamlet, Kalola Village, in the Bambalamotu District of Pasangkayu Regency, West Sulawesi Province. As a young Tapalili, Biu immerses himself in the rich traditions of his ancestors, dedicated to imparting this invaluable knowledge to the younger generation. His journey is fueled by a profound love and passion for the culture of his homeland.

Driven by this deep connection to his heritage, Biu embarks on a personal quest for growth and self-discovery. His unwavering spirit and commitment to preserving his cultural legacy highlight the resilience and vitality of his people. "Tapalili" showcases Biu's transformation into a symbol of hope and strength, embodying the enduring spirit of his community's cultural heritage.

Director Biography - Arwin Ramli

Born in Pinrang, South Sulawesi, Arwin Ramli is an independent filmmaker and a dedicated storyteller with a degree in Broadcast from Yogyakarta. He splits his time between Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, where he immerses himself in unearthing unexposed cultures, isolated areas, social gaps, and social issues through his films. Arwin's portfolio includes shorts, feature films, and documentaries, reflecting his commitment to highlighting overlooked communities. In addition to his filmmaking career, he has also imparted his knowledge by teaching film direction at Sekolah Tinggi Multi Media “MMTC” Yogyakarta.

Currently, Arwin is pursuing a Master's degree in Cultural and Creative Industry, which further enriches his understanding and influence in the field. Among his acclaimed works is the short documentary "Children Melodies" (2020), which captures the journey of a kindergarten angklung group preparing for a competition organized by Yogyakarta Children's Art Creations. This documentary was screened at DOCO A/C and earned a nomination for Best Documentary. Arwin's role extended beyond direction to include photography and editing, showcasing his comprehensive skill set and dedication to his craft.
