Director Statement

Grief is a universal feeling, eventually experienced by all but always in a distinctly unique way.
I developed the initial idea for ‘My Other Suit is Human’ two years ago, and always knew that I wanted to give a physical form to the weight of the depression that is so often felt when grieving the loss of a loved one.
In this case, I wanted to look at Zoe’s grief manifested in the form of a robot suit, inspired by her deceased son’s favourite toys, books, TV shows - the last remnants she has of him. She uses the suit to escape the sadness of the world around her and give her a chance to repair her broken spirit - and to feel more human.
