My Lymphoedema - A Child's View
Lymphoedema is a condition that doesn’t get talked about much. Swelling, characteristic of lymphoedema, can affect any part of the body but usually develops in the arms or legs and can be hard to deal with – even for adults. Children of all ages can develop lymphoedema although it is less common and it can be hard for them too. This short film helps other children and young people to understand that being different doesn’t mean that you can’t be proud of who you are. 6 year old Ffion Haf is keen to remind us that she also likes jumping and going in the park; 10 year old Macsen shares tips for persuading reluctant children to wear compression garments and 12 year old Jenna shares some advice to ignore bullies and seek the support of friends. The delightful graphic illustration created by BDH.net in Bristol captures the personality and emotions of these young people as they speak from the heart about their worries and observations about their lives.
