Through this festival we seek out noteworthy new talents and innovative filmmakers around the world, showcasing the best of the best from each genre. Our goal for the festival is to raise money for the growing needs of three charitable organizations. First of which is San Antonio’s very own All-Accessible theme park, Morgan’s Wonderland! While Toyota provides major financial support to the park, it also depends on the help of other organizations such as The My Love Michelle Short Film Festival. Born with delays, Gordon Hartman’s daughter Morgan inspired the park's creation. The park was designed for those who are challenged with cognitive and physical delays, and welcomes all adults and children to enjoy the park and play together!
Along with Morgan’s Wonderland, the My Love Michelle Short Film Festival will be raising money for Michelle's Furry Friends. This animal charity has been chosen to donate time and resources to save animals from neglect.
The My Love Michelle Short Film Festival is inspired by our unsung hero, Michelle Katrina Garcia, a talented, differently-abled young lady whose two passions in life were film and the care of animals. Her beautiful, caring spirit and precious memory will live on through this short film festival! We Love You, Michelle!
ALTHOUGH IT IS OUR MISSION TO HAVE MORE “DIFFERENTLY-ABLED” TALENTS INCLUDED IN FILM PROJECTS ACROSS THE NATION IN SOME WAY, IT IS NOT REQUIRED AND RATHER STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. FILMS THAT INCLUDE A “DIFFERENTLY-ABLED” PERSON IN THE PRODUCTION ARE IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE FOR A BONUS AWARD, IF CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE TOP TWO FINALISTS. THE PERSON MAY BE IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND THE CAMERA. THE PERSON MAY BE IN THE CAST OR THE CREW. FOR EXAMPLE, THEY MAY BE AN EXTRA OR WORK IN ANY CAPACITY YOU DECIDE. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHO THE PERSON IS AND WHAT THEIR DISABILITY IS, AND THEIR ROLE IN YOUR PROJECT.
