NOVA Student Film Festival International (NSFF-International) is a non-competitive film festival of short films open to all Northern Virginia Community College students from all fields of study (NOT just film students).

NSFF - International is a traveling festival. Films that are selected for the festival will also be screened at partnering educational institutions around the world.

Film students from around the world are also invited to submit their films for consideration in the "Films Without Walls" section of our festival. Film students must provide name of school they are attending. Failure to provide the name of school you are attending will result in entry being disqualified.

The Films Without Walls section has a yearly theme. For films that would like to be considered for the 2020 "Films Without Walls" series in our festival - This year's festival theme is: Women in Society

Two films are awarded each year:

Dean's Award for Cinematic Distinction & The Joe Windham Award for Cinematic Activism

Please read carefully the rules and terms; violation of any of these terms will disqualify your submission.

This is a short-films festival; submissions cannot exceed 10 mins (including credits).

US submissions, must be a NOVA student, a NOVA Alum or invited to submit in the "Films Without Walls" section.

Festival is open to students from all disciplines and not just film students.

International submissions, must be a film student currently enrolled in certificate or degree program.

Film students from around the world are also invited to submit their films for consideration in the "Films Without Walls" section of our festival.

All submissions in a language other than English should be fully subtitled in English.

All submissions must have industry standard opening and end credits (please research this if you are not familiar with it).

Films must be submitted by the Director or the Producer.

Film submissions are considered complete for consideration ONLY IF ALL information requested are provided at submission time. Missing information in your submission form will be cause for disqualification.

NOVA Student Film Festival International is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

NOVA Student Film Festival International is hereby granted the rights to screen selected films in its traveling film festival at partnering academic institutions and/or film festivals around the world.

NOVA Student Film Festival International is hereby granted the rights to upload on its YouTube channel films selected for and screened at its festival.

By submitting, you certify that you have the rights to commit the film to NOVA Student Film Festival public screenings and for festival promotions, should it be selected.

By submitting, you affirm that any and all issues of copyright pertaining to any imagery or music contained in the submitted film have been properly cleared for use.

All films submitted for 2020 Festival consideration must have been completed in either 2018 or 2019.

If selected, you must make your film available to festival in format that will be communicated in your selection announcement.

Only 1 submission per student is allowed.
