Marwan Kassis, film director/producer, instructor at Notre Dame University (NDU) since 2011 teaching courses in TV production, Radio Programing, Film Editing, Studio Workshop and Documentary. Throughout my career I have directed and produced numerous Short Films, Documentaries, and TV Commercials along with Live to Tape events. Currently handling archive restoration for the Ministry of Culture and Studio Baalbek in Lebanon. I have sought out new technologies and methods through seminars and workshops such as ARRI workshop (Munich, Germany), IBC (Amsterdam), Cinema and Culture in the Arab World workshop (Cairo), in addition to attending Cannes and Dubai Film Festivals. My Dunia is my first feature film.
The movie delivers a strong humanitarian message supporting the handicapped people in the Lebanese/Arab/Middle Eastern society and reveals how they are treated by the people around them.
Based on a true events, the film is a reproduction of the real life of Dunia, the midget and her son. The scriptwriter gives the story a dramatic effect to make it more enjoyable as a screenplay. Technically, the camera moves to show the context of the story without any artificial effects or overuse of lightning or movements.
