Neyda Enid is a Director/Producer/Writer and the principal at 2nd Team Films, a group of collaborating filmmakers whose focus is to make digital films of cultural and educational relevance. Neyda was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and educated at the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor in Science in Mathematics and Computer Science. Being a Director and Producer is a culmination and amalgam of all disciplines that Neyda has honed throughout her career as a Mathematician turned computer Graphics Programer turned Digital Content Creator and Manager turned 3D Computer Graphics Animator turned Filmmaker. Neyda could best be described as the unusually left/right balanced person who was educated in the sciences but has an insatiable appetite for the arts, especially post-impressionist painters, architecture and world music.
Neyda made her entrée into Hollywood with Harry Potter, working on Visual Effects for post production while at Sony Pictures Imageworks. She took a leap from working on the technically driven post-production world of filmmaking and animation, to being in front and around the camera as a Writer, Actor, Producer, and Director, quickly teaming up with established Hollywood figures always pushing the envelope of Digital Filmmaking.
A pivotal moment in her career came in 2002 when she took a trip to Europe accompanied by her luggage and a brand new digital camera hoping to capture as many of the images of places and people she had encountered on a previous trip. This trip while at the time had seem to be an exploration trip it turned to be a rite of passage and the beginning of what is now a career dedicated to story telling by way of narratives coupled with visuals.
She worked on a number of short films with both small and large budgets. In typical Hollywood fashion she took on many responsibilities on every project and in typical Hollywood fashion she made producing short films for the film festival circuit her trainning ground. Having presented films in festivals as prestigious as Edward James Olmos' Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival among others. Neyda's extensive on set and on camera experience complements and counter balances her highly technical Visual Effects and Post-Production filmmaking experience. But in a not so typical fashion, her penchant for knowing a craft from every possible angle, would prompt her to embrace and pull from her creative capacities to jump head first onto every project and take on a plethora of responsibilites as needed, be it, costume design, art direction, location manager, Assitant Director, on set photographer and of course Producer.
She worked as an Executive Producer for a cutting edge short film named NO! shot with a Dalsa Camera in 4k resolution. For 'NO!' Neyda teamed up with Joe DiGennaro Directing, and a staple of the Visual Effects world and Academy Award winning Director of Photography, David Stump, ASC.
She worked on a short film she wrote and produced named 'Helena Hosts' where she is collaborated with Robert Beltran, known as Captain Chakotay in Star Trek Voyager and the cult classic Eating Raoul. Neyda is also collaborating with Mr. Beltran on the production of the feature length film 'Mondragon' which he wrote and Neyda is producing.
Neyda is currently filming a feature film documentary about the Folkloric music of her native country of Puerto Rico. It is no surprise that Neyda has chosen a documentary about the music of Puerto Rico as her full feature debut as during her growing years there was always music in her parents house. Having been born and raised in Fajardo has also been a driving influence in her decision to make such a piece since it happens to be the birthplace of Joaquin Mouliert 'El Pitirre del la Montana'. Joaquin Mouliert, a living legend of folk music of Puerto Rico, and his group Ecos de la Montana regularly performed on a live radio show on Sundays, on town square festivals and the famed Parranda Navidena every year.
Neyda began her professional career as a Mathematician for the Department of Defense developing computer programs and for Aerospace applications. She later joined a Defense contractor as a 3D computer graphics programer where she developed cutting edge tools to visualize satellite data. Scientific visualizations where a natural transition form being a programer. A regular project included creating a scientific visualization of a missile flying above earth's atmosphere or a fly-by over a terrain like a volcano in Mexico. She worked on an award winning Multi-media project that Vice President Al Gore commissioned for the study of global warming.
Her studies as well as her professional career have been defined by the constant pursue of establishing a parallel between science and art. While pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Science from the University of Puerto Rico in Mathematics, a Latin American literature book or the latest World Music or Jazz CD was never far. She made it a regular pratice to visit the Music Department library and while people were doing research in music she was listening to Bach Fugues while solving Differential Equations. Neyda has made the study of art, culture and music virtually a sport, always exploring and searching for old and new styles and forms of art expression in people's from around the world.
