My Dad, My Friend, and Me
This script was recently chosen as a finalist for the Courage Film Festival in Berlin Germany!
Chris Tuckenheimer must come to terms with his struggles in high school and making decisions for his education, as well as dealing with his father Bob announcing he is gay and throwing their family in turmoil.
Chris and his best friend Tom are quite different, and they have to deal with bullies in their school. Bob, after coming out, reveals a relationship he is having with a Puerto Rican man at his office, Michael Lacosta. They take a work trip to Atlantic City together and have a lot of fun.
Chris begins to doubt his own masculinity because of his father being gay. He meets a student named Sarah and they decide to go to prom together. Meanwhile Tom is making jokes and pressuring Chris to lose his virginity. At the prom Sarah and Tom decide to try to have sex, which ends pretty embarrassingly for Chris it being his first time. Sarah is very nice about it however and they still have a enjoyable evening.
The main bully, a huge football player named Ted McConnelly corners Chris in the bathroom. Chris assumes he’s a dead man, but instead Ted has picked up a note from Chris to Tom which he had dropped, explaining to Tom he might have feelings for him. Instead of beating Chris up, he hugs Chris and starts crying, having been struggling with similar feelings himself.
Chris and Tom end up choosing different paths for their futures, Chris wanting to go to University and Tom wanting to join the military.
His mother Alexis and his Dad Bob thankfully work out a new understanding, and agree to be good friends while separating.

I believe all good productions whether in TV or film start with good scripts. You so often see talented actors and directors valiantly trying to save films that are poorly written, or have poorly suported premises. I believe I bring my education in writing to bear on all my projects, as well as my experiences living in Germany and Holland for 12 years while I worked as a Chiropractor.
