Mx.Enigma

The film exposes the daily experiences of one queer Jewish youth & their transition out of an Orthodox insular space through reclaiming their challenges by humanizing the stories of many that are stigmatized, unhead & invalidated in a modern world.

Director Biography - Je'Jae Daniels

I grew up in the Lower East Side of NYC & studied Media & Gender Studies at Brooklyn College. Mx.Enigma is my first doc n 2015 produced by Reelworks, but have been a social practice artist for years. As a Reelworks fellow, the film was only able to be executed in 7 mins, I extended the narrative in my 2nd Doc, "Bubby & Them" which is currently circulating film festivals globally. The next movies I want to make are about youth in foster care, homelessness, Immigrant Justice, Queer Rights under Trump's Era & OTD custody battles. For the past year I’ve drawn my inspiration by collaborating with teenagers on essay films at ReelWorks in Brooklyn.

My portfolio focuses on the intersections of media, culture, and identity. My art exposes the walls of pseudo-events that are constructed to limit people's enlightenment to embrace the full extent of our humanity.
