The punk scene stigmatized by rebellion and seeking unconditional ecstasy also suffered distortions due to the media, just like the Islam’s values and principles. It is frequently forgotten that the subculture of StraightXedge, also originating from hardcore punk, uses the self-control keywords of NO SMOKING, NO ALCOHOL and NO DRUGS to forward the message through the power of music.

The movement has also reached the Archipelago of Indonesia, which is the most populous Muslim country on the world, where 90% of the 260 million people are Muslims.

The Muslim Punk project aims to introduce the Indonesian punk scene. Outlining through personal stories how the energetic punk ideology can exist with the values of Islam’s inner calmness.
