Música Periférica Brasileira

The singer, songwriter, MC and producer from Fortaleza, Carú Lina, released the first single of the same name from the EP “Música Periférica Brasileira”, produced in Porto Iracema das Artes.
“Brazilian Peripheral Music” talks about the cultural multiplicity of some Brazilian peripheries in an urban and regional context. The song begins with dialogues between two people with slang and popular sayings, Abú and Bito from “O odor do Queijo” greet each other as if they were on a telephone call talking about everyday things like the day-to-day “runs”, the everyday struggle for survival.
In the sequence, indigenous chants of the Lakota and Kariri-xocó ethnic groups “invade the strip” showing the culture of the first Brazilian peoples (everything to do with periphery, resistance and Brazil), soon the capoeira master Gil Ukilombo arrives with his ginga talking about the diaspora and of the arrival of African cultures here after colonization and consecutively songs in Yoruba talking about faith, struggle and Afro-Brazilianities with the people of the terreiro. The ending is with a speech by Pepe Mujica talking about the inversion of values, capital and how we spend our time in life, the track ends with a scream in various tones and the word RESISTANCE.
