Foxhedge Music proudly presents the Music City SongStar awards, a songwriting competition open to songwriters worldwide.

Kicking off September 1 and running through December 15, 2018, Music City SongStar is open to all genres of music. The top four (4) finalists will have an opportunity to perform their original song at the amazing venue, Leiper's Fork Distillery, in Franklin, TN. The winning songwriter will be awarded $5,000 in cash. Other prizes will be awarded to 25 semi-finalists.

The Grand Prize winner will receive five thousand dollars, an invitation to perform their song at the amazing Leiper's Fork Distillery in Franklin, TN. Additional five hundred dollars plus hotel accommodations included upon arrival in Nashville. The Grand Prize winner will be featured in the official Music City SongStar press release, which will include the link to their song on the Music City SongStar website and social media channels. Entry fee is $25 per song. All entries submitted must be original songs and shall not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but only one name should be designated as the Entrant on the entry form. Entrant shall, by entering, indemnify and hold Foxhedge Music, LLC (“Presenter”) harmless from and against any and all claims inconsistent with the foregoing.

Music City SongStar 2018 (“Contest”) is open to all amateur and professional songwriters. If Entrant is under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required. Employees of Presenter, its families, subsidiaries and affiliates are not eligible.

It is Entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the submitted song(s) are complete and playable. Presenter is not responsible for faulty file uploads accompanying entries. Presenter is not responsible for late, misdirected, incomplete, or misappropriated entries. Multiple songs may be submitted, one per entry. All entry fees are non-refundable.

Presenter reserves the right to extend the entry deadline and increase or reduce entry fees for special promotions and/or entry deadline periods. Any increases or decreases in fees are not retroactive to existing entries. Entries will be screened by Presenter’s listening committee who will listen to each song in its entirety, up to five minutes in length. Data upload size limit per song is less than or equal to 100MB. Members of the committee will select the semi-finalists, and the semi-finalists will be sent to the judges who will select the winners. Each song submitted shall receive a comprehensive evaluation, with the lyrics, music, and commerciality reviewed, along with suggestions for fine-tuning your song. Songs are judged on melody, composition, originality, and lyrics. Lyrics may be in any language, although an English translation is required to accompany all entries. Each song submitted must be Entrant’s original work. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but please designate one name only as “Entrant” on the application.

All prizes will be awarded to the Entrant as it appears on the entry form. Division of prizes among co-authors is the responsibility of Entrant winners. Entrant agrees to accept the final decision of Presenter and its judges. Entrance to Contest opens on September 1, 2018 and closes on December 15, 2018. Contest will post all results on its website. Entrants will be notified by email to the email address provided at submission that results are posted. Entrant is responsible for providing up-to- date and correct email address to Contest. Presenter is not responsible for Entrant’s non-receipt of any Contest emails for any reason, including but not limited to, server or email malfunctions.

Contest will use its best efforts to announce the winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays. Winners will be notified by email provided at submission and must sign and return an affidavit of eligibility/recording rights/publicity release within 14 days of notification date. The affidavit will state that winner’s song is original work and he/she holds all rights to song. Failure to sign and return such affidavit within 14 days or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in immediate disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Affidavits for winners under 18 years of age at time of award must be countersigned by parent or legal guardian. Affidavits subject to verification by Presenter and its agents.

Entry constitutes permission for Presenter and its partners and vendors to use winner’s names, likenesses, and voices for future Contest advertising and publicity purposes, without additional compensation.

Entrant must accept terms and conditions of prizes at time of acceptance/confirmation. There will be no transfer and substitution of prizes except as necessary due to availability in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. If it is necessary to substitute a prize, Presenter reserves the right to give the winner a cash substitute determined by the wholesale value of the prize. All winners agree to release Presenter and sponsors from all liability regarding prizes won. All federal, state, and local taxes, and customs fees, when applicable, are the sole responsibility of winner. Presenter will not pay any winners; taxes or customs fees. Prizes will be sent out within a reasonable amount of time, and Presenter will use its best efforts to send prizes out in a timely fashion. If, after 180 days, any winner has not received any portion of prizes, it is winner’s responsibility to notify Presenter in writing within 30 days, and by certified mail, as to which prizes are outstanding. If winner fails to notify Presenter, Presenter will no longer be responsible for delivery of prizes.

The performance venue, has been secured prior to the contest period. Presenter is not responsible for any changes by the management of the venue. In the event the venue management makes any changes, Presenter reserves the right to change performance dates or to secure a similar performance venue. The winner agrees to perform on the night selected. There is no alternative date provided. Entrant does not need to be present at the venue.

Entrant agrees that should his/her song(s) be selected as a winner, Presenter shall have the right to include the winning song(s) on a Music City SongStar Compilation CD to be used for promotional purposes only. The CD will not be for sale. Entrant retains all ownership rights to all submitted song(s). Presenter and Contest will not have any ownership rights to any song(s) submitted. Entrant acknowledges that all songs entered may be distributed to judges who will be selecting the winners, and Entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold Presenter, its sponsors, and judges harmless for liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in Contest. By entering Contest, entrant and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of Presenter and its judges, which are final and binding in all matters. Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official Contest Rules and Regulations as established herein.
