Michael Filippi is a versatile director, writer, and editor dedicated to bringing narratives to life on the silver screen. April Yanko is a writer, actor, and all-around weirdo from Pittsburgh. Her film “Butt Stuff” recently premiered in Dances with Films at the historic TCL Chinese Theater. She’s studied sketch writing and improv at UCB and the Pack Theater with incredible teachers like Sam Brown (Whitest Kids U' Know), Keisha Zollar (Astronomy Club), and Eric Moneypenny (Eric Andre). April performs sketch on the Pack house team Kickball. You can also catch her starring in “The Party,” a D&D webseries on YouTube. All of her Neopets are alive and well.
It seemed risky, going into a production without knowing one another--
But, in the course of a weekend, we became artistic partners AND never fought, not even once!
Mutual respect and a deep appreciation for one another made the long, long hours of the 48 Hour Film Festival go by quickly. And because of our talented team, we made a film that made it to the top 10 of over 150 submissions in Los Angeles.
We're also thrilled that Murder is on the Table was nominated for "Best Film," as well recognized in more than half the categories, and that we each got individual nominations for "Best Writing" and "Best Directing."
Most of all, we're proud of the final product. This quirky murder mystery will have you laughing and questioning your familial relationships. Us and the entire VisionRey team hope you enjoy the film as much as we did making it!
