Muraya Moore is a writer and director who is passionate about telling unique and nuanced female stories, particularly those of Asian women. Her most recent short film Blood Sisters (2024) was selected for SXSW Sydney, Brisbane International Film Festival and the Byron Bay Film Festival, where she was nominated for Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year. Her short films ‘Lemons’ and ‘Prima’ have also screened at numerous festivals around Australia including the St Kilda Film Festival, Gold Coast Film Festival, Sydney Underground Film Festival and the West End Film Festival. ‘Prima’ was nominated for Best Tertiary Short Fiction at the ATOM awards and won Best Cinematography at the Gold Coast Film Festival in the Emerge Showcase.
She recently directed and produced the interview series, Power Nadeshiko, funded by the Queensland Government. The series aims to empower Japanese women living in Queensland by educating on domestic violence awareness and support. Muraya enjoys working on projects that are close to her heart and hope they challenge audiences to interrogate who we are and the world around us.
