Mummy, Hottee & Little Boy
Shot from the POV of a child, this experimental VR film centres on Mummy who narrates her desired relationship with male protagonist Hottee. Together with her son, the characters attempt to live out a fantasy of a happy family, ignoring the chaos, poverty, and acrimony in their lives. Mummy, Hottee and Little Boy take turns narrating what seems like a children’s playbook as the surrealist aesthetics tread delicately on the Faultline of fantasy and illusion, and multiple perspectives unfold.
The narration you hear was a children's story written by Judi Rainbow for her son Troy (Producer). Judi suffered from schizophrenia, and this work aims to give a voice to her experience.
This film was funded by RMIT University and awarded the cultural visions scholarship.
This is a stand alone film, and was made as part of XR immersive theatre experience The Door In Question 2021.
