Multiplex 10
MULTIPLEX 10 centers around the lives of the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas. Kurt is an usher, pining for that special someone to share his love of horror movies. The newest hire, Jason, is a film snob who just needs a freakin’ job, okay? Despite their differences, the pair will make fast friends — unless they kill each other first.

Gordon McAlpin is a Filipino-American illustrator, cartoonist, and animator living in Somerville, MA. He has an MFA in Design from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. He wrote and illustrated the award-winning humor comic strip, Multiplex, from July 2005 through April 2017. Although he has produced several animated videos for various clients, Multiplex 10 is his first narrative animated short; he co-wrote, executive produced, directed, animated, and edited the award-winning short.
Multiplex 10 is about the love of film. On its surface, it's an odd-couple comedy about two movie theater ushers with diametrically opposite taste in cinema. But it's really about how the things we love (and, conversely, the things we hate) become part of us. It's about how those of us who love movies talk about and experience them, and it's about how people relate to each other through the language of film. (There are also a lot of jokes in it.)
I'm incredibly grateful to the rest of the cast and crew of Multiplex 10 for helping me bring these characters to life, and thrilled to finally be able to share it with the world.
