HO JA MUKT
Vikram aka Vicky’s depression becomes a severe psychiatric case as his parents Suresh & Anita struggle to find out what could possibly be wrong in a perfect upper middle-class family like theirs. Vicky was an introvert from a young age and at age 21 became suicidal and indifferent to his house environment. While the Aswani family with the hesitant help of a counsellor gradually discover themselves involved in his situation, Vicky on the other hand tries to escape from his illusory trap with medical and artistic assistance both.
The screenplay is adapted from real life experiences of Indian families where suicide rate in teens and young adults is 28 suicides per day. (*National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Data)

HO JA MUKT is a culmination of my life experiences in the world of communication. It fascinates me how the human mind is capable of communicating through so many mediums other than words and what surprises me is that as we progress with time our dependency on words somehow keeps increasing.
The screenplay is personal and researched both. When research showed that every hour a student under the age of 25 commits suicide in India it became more important for me to make this personal journey public.
When I was last asked what do I wish to achieve from this film, I answered - Even if it saves 1 life, I have achieved what I set out for.
