Director Biography - Catapreta

Leonardo Cata Preta [AKA Catapreta) is 47 years old, is a Brazilian black artist, an independent professional in film and video, animator, illustrator, designer, and visual artist.. Among other audiovisual works, he has directed the short films "Dwellers of the 304" (2007), "The Sky Downstairs" (2010), "Turned Wind" (2013), "Entrance Through The Front" (2015), "Calmness" (2019), "Orbit" (2020), "Room of Disquiet" (2021), and "Ms. Beatriz Ñsîmba Vita" (2023). His films have participated in various national and international festivals and showcases, such as the 34th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (2012 - France), 38th Tampere International Short Film Festival (2008 - Finland), 14th Luso-Brazilian Festival of Santa Maria da Feira (2010 - Portugal), 43rd Brasília Film Festival (2010), Tiradentes Film Festival (2008 and 2011), 33rd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema (2011 - Cuba), 19th Animamundi (2011), Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival (2011), among others. He has received over 60 awards and special mentions. He served as a jury member at the 44th Brasília Film Festival (2011) and the Curitiba Int'l Film Festival (2012).
