Mr. Birdwatcher

In the peaceful countryside a son recalls the peculiar figure of his father, an odd yet charming character that spends his days observing the birds in the fields and playing the piano. Not much of a talker and with his head always up in the clouds, Mr. Bird Watcher communicates through his music and through the hundreds of photographs that document his escapes to the country.

Director Statement

Nina Fisher is a multimedia illustrator and storyteller based in Brighton. Her practice ranges from traditional illustration to 3-D environments to stop motion.
Nina’s work is intricate in design and evokes a dream-like nostalgia. Drawing from her own experiences and taking inspiration from theatre set-design, she juxtaposes the calm of the countryside with more surreal dreamscapes populated by the bizarre.
Her visual language is informed by her love for children’s books and interests in birdwatching and Italian Metaphysical painting.
Brighton’s avant-garde art scene blends with Nina’s traditional education in the Italian art school to form a world that is peculiar, original, and distinctly classical.
